PLASTPLAN Internship
PlastPlan is a design studio where
I completed a year-long internship and later collaborated as a freelance designer. Based on the Precious Plastic initiative, the studio collects plastic waste from external companies and reprocesses it into functional objects for everyday use.
The plastic waste is shredded and transformed, the main production method used is injection molding. This consist in creating an aluminum mould from which it will be injected melted plastic that will take the shape of the wanted object.
Another importand production method of this reality is sheet pressing, allowing to create plastic boards that, can be cut and shaped to create bigger sized objects, like furnishing pieces.

Lastly, it is possible to feed the shredded plastic particles into a 3D printer granules extruder, to perform big scale printing. This way it is possible to achieve colorful shades and big aesthetic extruded layers.
