CHAOTIC REEF
The origin of this research is very meaningfull to me, because it marks my very first approach to the ceramic world.
For this reason, the aim of this project was to really try to experiment with the most aspects i could of this wonderful field. The object in question, is a set of tiles that modularly intersect three dimensionally with the surrounding tiles.
“Chaotic Reef” reflects my personal designing and experimentation method, that by using the chaotic and more organic part of experimentation process, still manages to be structured into a more strict foundation, by following the more basic designing methods.
The creation of the tiles was made so that they would be able to modularly repeat into a given space. The positive and negative pieces of the mould have been created through FDM 3D printing, and then replicated in plasted for slip casting.
Each piece has been casted hollow, in three different color variations, orange, black and white.
Many glazing experiments have been conducted, between sprayed dotted shades, crackling and gloopy glazes.
